In June 2025 I had the honour to participate in a Magnum Workshop with Richard Kalvar – one of the grandmasters of Street Photography – in London. 11 photography students came from all over the world to learn from Richard. The Workshop was centered around an intensive discussion of the qualities of single pictures each morning. Afterwards, we were hitting the streets of London to take photos for hours. In the evening I selected and edited pics to discuss the next morning. On one day, Richard was coming with us so we could observe his style of photographing in the streets. It was a very intensive experience – but really worth time and effort. I really profited from Richards critique of my pictures, learned a new technique of approaching people and got a really nice set of pictures in the end. The following 20 pictures represent the final selection made by Richard and me from 70 photos I had pre-selected to discuss in the Workshop out of all the approximately 1.200 photos I took in London this week. My aim was to create a coherent, yet diverse set of pictures that tell a story and make the impression of a little world in itself. Enjoy!
